Welcome!

Well, this is the very first post on my blog.  I was told I should start a blog and share my stories with the jewelry making process and the antics of my crazy dogs and family.

A little bit about me,  I am 57 and married to a wonderful supportive husband and daughters.  My family helps me with all my travels with my jewelry.  As I am blind I do have my challenges with seeing.  But with the help of my good friend and fellow jewelry designer Marie I am able to make my jewelry designs.  She checks things out to make sure jump rings are closed.  I use lots of magnifiers and lights.  Ceramic tiles are used for my jewelry in progress to sit on so that it is easier to find.  I just say that my vision is like looking thru two straws.

I have always liked creating art.  L have dabbled in pen&ink, and watercolors. I can sew children clothes and have made several outfits for my younger daughter.  I remember buying some material in lilac colored tiny flowers when she was 1, Then a few years later I found that I had bought the same material again.  Which all ties into the looks of my English Tea Garden jewelry.  So, I would say that I love lilacs, flowers and the color purple.   I love color and have a good eye for it. I can look at thread, ribbon and take it home and it matches the fabric perfectly.  I don't know to many people that can do that without a sample with them.

The jewelry I make seems to all go with the colors of my wardrobe which will tell you that I like jewel tones more than earth tones.  I do try to make earth tone jewelry but it is , for me thinking outside the box.  My Aunt Doris was a earth tone gal and so when I design earth tone jewelry I always have her in mind.  She had a eye for design and bold colors.  I always say she was the Martha Stewart of her time.  Even though she is no longer with us , she has left an imprint on me and I love her for all she taught me as a child.

Well I guess this is a good start for my first post.  I am a talker so blogging may be right up my alley.  God Bless and have a great day!  Cindy
